"Don't always think its your way or the highway."| A Duke Student's Advice on College Life

We had the opportunity of interviewing Erin, a student at Duke University about: College Life Erin tells us that she is a Benjamin N. Duke scholar at Duke University works as the @DukeStudents twitter editor has taken sports photos for the Duke Chronicle loves basketball and is currently taking a gap year. Here are some important words she shares: "Going to college definitely threw all of my routines off and it took some time to make new ones and figure out what works best for me." "College has definitely shown me that it's good to have plans but to also be flexible and know when to adjust them." Q: What’s the hardest adjustment you made going into college? (course load, self-control, finance, etc.) A: The hardest adjustment I made going into college was figuring out my schedule. High school was pretty easy because I went to school for a set number of hours, had a built in lunch time, did extracurriculars after school, and did my homework whenever I got home. Going to college definitely threw all of my routines off and it took some time to make new ones and figure out what works best for me. I can’t count the number of times I’d forgotten to eat lunch or missed the bus to the other side of campus but I got better at scheduling things with time! Q: What type of personal or general benefits do you find in being the editor of the @DukeStudents twitter? A: I love the @DukeStudents team! Being the Twitter editor is fun because I get to be creative with social media strategy and I also get paid for it. Twitter is probably my favorite social media, so I love trying to keep the Twitter account up to date and relevant. I can’t wait to get back to it once my gap year is over!
